Generous Permission

”Nothing redeems but beauty, its generous permission,

its gorgeous celebration of all that has previously been uncelebrated.”

Figurative Collage

December 8, 2025

Every Thursday night, I run a free figure drawing session for the local community at Lafayette College, which the college generously supports. Every since I took a two-week collage workshop from the artist Ken Kewley in 2022, I have been bringing my collage materials to the figure sessions.

It’s fun to be “on the clock” and try and create a collage during the length of the pose. These collages range between 20 minute- 2 hour poses. I don’t usually work on them afterwards, because I’m most inspired by the live model posing in real time. My collages are small, ranging from 2 x 2 inches to 8 x 10 inches. They are all made of painted paper, which I prepared ahead of time with acrylic paint.

Here are a few select collages that I have made, although there are many, many more. And more to come!
